The Summer

Ah, the summer. My favorite time of year. I love the long days, the warmer temperatures, the easy...WAIT A MINUTE.
That is NOT this summer, not for me, no way, no how. Okay, the days are longer and I've been taking advantage of the added light to get in a late evening walk. The warmer temperatures? How about brutal? Man, if you were on the East Coast of the US last week, it was ridiculous. Even I, the lover of heat (I think 83 degrees F. is the ideal temperature) was losing my mind. And this summer, at least for me, has not been easy. Too much going on.
However, it is July and I am now taking charge. I finally got my bike out yesterday. Of course the tires were flat and of course I couldn't get them inflated. I'll be off to Kevin at the bike store tomorrow (I had to work today); bike rides are now in my future.
I did manage to get to NYC a couple of weeks ago and caught the charming Maybe Happy Ending. What a sweet show! Highly recommend, especially if you're seeking a little quiet and a good story.

Saw Philly's own The Crossing in their Month of Moderns series as well. I was reminded of the years I spent singing with Philadelphia Singers. I was too young to realize how very good Michael Korn was to me. He left way too soon.

FreeElder.net is my newest resistance project. I'm honored to join a growing community from around the country who are advocating for the release of Elder Chavez Carranza, an 18-year-old kid currently detained at Winn Correctional Center in Winnfield, LA. Please click on the link above to learn more about Elder and to find out ways you can easily take action to help him go home.
