Resisting

It's a heavy, chaotic time. I'm sure you feel it. I don't know about you, but I always feel better if I can take action. I have found an action is making a difference.

Carlos Della Valle. Angela Della Valle. A year ago, these people were strangers to me. Today, even though I've never met Carlos and I've met Angela once, they are in my life daily. That's right - not a day goes by (looking at you, Stephen Sondheim) that I don't think about Carlos or Angela.

Carlos, a resident of the US for 30+ years and married to Angela, a US citizen, for over 20 of those years is currently detained in Winn Correctional Center in Winnfield, Louisiana, even though he has absolutely no criminal record AND was found not guilty of illegal reentry by a jury in August of 2025.

I first learned of Carlos and Angela in September of 2025. I donated to their GoFundMe and began to receive daily updates, usually written by Angela. I have gained more knowledge from Angela's updates than from any other news source, and I am a newshound. I urge you to donate even $5.00 so you can read her reports. You will learn and you will be moved. Angela's updates are on the ground, in the moment, filled with all the ridiculously unbelievable experiences and emotions Carlos and Angela are having to live through. She also manages to throw in information - facts about the cost of detaining 70,000 people, facts about the billions of dollars in lost income, facts about actions the government could take, facts about actions each one of us can take. Donate and read. You will not be disappointed. You might become upset, but you will not be disappointed.

As I said in my last post, not booked doesn't mean I'm not blessed. I've been honored to communicate with Angela, to bask in her immense capacity to find the blessings amongst the rubble of life. She's incredible. Communicating with her humbles me and reminds me of the power of gratitude and of love. Truly.
