CABARET
PLAYLISTS
What a great time we had at the Darlington Arts Center Saturday evening! That is a charming venue, perfect for cabaret. Thanks so very much to everyone who was able to attend. As I said from the stage Saturday evening, here's the playlist, along with comments about the songs. FYI, I come back here and add to the comments all the time, so check back frequently for more!
Sweet Spring - Hayes & Nashe
That's right. I took a very old poem, which got stuck in my head one day as I was wishing for spring, and wrote a melody to go with it.
Spring Is Here - Rodgers & Hart
One of my favorite Rodgers & Hart songs. Larry Hart's lyrics capture the ennui that one can feel when life isn't quite right.
Great American Songbook
Fascinatin' Rhythm - George & Ira Gershwin
First time performance for me of this classic Gershwin tune.
Rhode Island Is Famous For You - Arthur Schwartz and Howard Dietz
This is one of those songs that I'll sing any chance I can get. First sang it in my Songs of My Life show, back in 2007.
What'll I Do? - Irving Berlin
My husband loves this song. So do I.
Give 'Em The Oo-La-La – Cole Porter
Mama Song – Jiu Jian Kenn
Vocalise – Sergei Rachmaninoff, arr. Hayes
La Vie en Rose – Edith Piaf, Maguerite Monnet and Louigay; English lyrics by Mack David
